Musicista, ingegnere, compositore e artista visivo, performer americano di fama mondiale, Golan Levin sarà a Fabrica, il centro di ricerca sulla comunicazione del Gruppo Benetton, dal 27 al 29 ottobre 2004 per un workshop di tre giorni dal titolo Workshop in Media for Interactive Performance.

Il workshop sarà un'introduzione all'uso della grafica interattiva come piattaforma espressiva visuale. L'obiettivo è creare dei pezzi di arte e design, attraverso il linguaggio di programmazione Proce55ing. Durante il workshop Levin e gli studenti di Fabrica si concentreranno su sistemi che permetteranno loro di realizzare animazioni in tempo reale e sistemi per manipolare il linguaggio figurato.

Considerato un vero guru nella nuova scena internazionale, Golan Levin è un artista e compositore interessato allo sviluppo di artefatti ed esperienze che permettano di esplorare nuovi mezzi più duttili di espressione audiovisiva.
Il suo lavoro è incentrato sulla progettazione di sistemi per realizzare creazioni e performance con la fusione di immagini e suoni, nel quadro di una più vasta analisi dei protocolli di comunicazione, il tutto in una prospettiva di impegno individuale e dialogo sociale.

Levin ha ricevuto il Premio di Distinzione al Prix Ars Electronica 2000 per il suo software interattivo AVES e la performance audiovisiva ad esso abbinata, Scribble. Ha conseguito il diploma universitario e di specializzazione post-universitaria presso l'MIT Media Laboratory, dove ha studiato con John Maeda nel Gruppo di Estetica e Computazione.

Indicato da Technology Review come uno dei "Top 100 Innovators Under 35" e ribattezzato da El Pais come "una delle figure più brillanti nell'arte audiovisiva contemporanea ", le opere di Levin sono state esposte in Europa, America e Asia.

Golan Levin at Fabrica Workshop in Media for Interactive Performance Workshop 27-28-29 October 2004 Wanted Creativity Workshops and Lectures 2004

Musician, engineer, composer, visual artist: the famous american performer Golan Levin will be at Fabrica, the Benetton Group communication research centre, from October 27 to 29 for a three day workshop entitled Workshop in Media for Interactive Performance.

The workshop will be an introduction to the use of interactive graphics as an expressive visual tool. The objective is art and design, the medium will be the Proce55ing software-programming language. During the workshop Golan Levin together with Fabrica's students will focus on systems which allow to perform animation in real-time, and systems for manipulating photographic imagery.

Considered a guru of the new international scene, Golan Levin is an artist and composer interested in developing artifacts and experiences which explore subtle new modes of audiovisual expression. His work has focused on the design of systems for the creation and performance of simultaneous image and sound, as part of a more general examination of communications protocols for individual engagement and social dialogue.

Levin received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the MIT Media Laboratory, where he studied with John Maeda in the Aesthetics and Computation Group. Identified by Technology Review as one of the world's "Top 100 Innovators Under 35", and dubbed by El Pais as "one of the most brilliant figures in contemporary audiovisual art", Levin has exhibited widely in Europe, America and Asia.
